WhatsApp Content Guidelines
Master the rules of engagement to keep your account safe and your templates approved.
WhatsApp is a personal communication channel, and Meta is very protective of its users. To maintain a high-quality experience, all business content must comply with the WhatsApp Commerce Policy. Sending prohibited content can lead to permanent account suspension.
Prohibited Categories
Certain industries are strictly banned from using the WhatsApp API, including Alcohol, Tobacco, Gambling, Adult Content, and certain healthcare products. Ensure your business category is allowed.
Template Approval Rules
Every marketing message must be an approved template. Avoid click-bait, excessive urgency, or deceptive language. Ensure your 'Opt-out' options are clear and easy for users to find.
Avoid 'Spammy' Behavior
Sending high-volume messages that get frequently blocked or reported as spam will lower your account's 'Quality Rating'. If the rating drops to 'Low', your messaging limits will be restricted.
Media Policy
Images and videos sent via API must also comply with Meta's standards. Avoid low-resolution media or images that contain prohibited symbols or suggestive content.
